Subject: National Lampoon Radio Hour and SNL

The Nat Lamp Radio Hour in 1973-74 was definately the predecessor of SNL
which began in 1975. It isn't just a question of the same talent, either. At
least two Nat Lamp sketches were reused on SNL. One was of Chevy Chase
delivering a long, repititive, rambling monologue about how the show was fast
paced and well put together. Another was of a child sitting on a department
store Santa's lap and asking for various presents for Christmas and being
repeatedly told "no" by the Santa, who seems to delight in frustrating the
child's requests.

Subject: Arthur C. Clarke story on the BBC

There is currently a two part dramatization of Arthur C.
Clarke's story, "Childhood's End," on the Usenet newsgroup
[removed]
Each part is one hour and takes up about 52 MB. I don't
know when it was recorded, but it is in stereo.
   Regards to all, Alan

Subject: Favorite Internet OTR sites

Hello again --

In response to David Amaral's request for favorite internet OTR sites, I
very much like [removed], so named because you need to download the
free Real Player to enjoy the large variety of programming available from
this site. I had attempted to share this site with other OTRers through this
digest earlier, but at that time you had to pay one dollar to validate your
membership -- and it's understandable that this digest isn't to be used to
"sell" anything.
Now the site is free, and all you have to do is give yourself a screen name
and a password to enter the site and choose any selection from the wide
choices available.
The webmaster of this site also offers collections of mp3 recordings on disc
for a price, but visiting, and listening to the programs on this site are
now free.

Later,
Jan Bach
