This Week's Classics & Curios Show:
"Echoes of Songs and Laughter"
Episode 147
GIVING THANKS FOR SUNSHINE, MEMORIES, & OLD PEOPLE (REPRISE)
Andy Griiffith starts off this Thanksgiving program from the archives by
asking you to "Turn Your Radio On" to "get in touch with God and listen
to the music in the air." And it's time to give thanks to God in music
for some precious things in our lives like sunshine, love, memories,
good days, singing songs, old folks, and seeing loved ones at the
Thanksgiving table.
Songs that express our thanks include "Powder Your Face with Sunshine,"
"It's a Good Day," "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," "I Just Love Old
People," "I'll Always Be in Love with You," "Put Another Chair at the
Table," and "Precious Memories."
In addition to Andy Griffith, performers who express Thanksgiving
praises in song are Evelyn Knight, Peggy Lee, Jake Hess, The Mills
Brothers, Les Brown and his Band of Renown, and Fred Waring and his
Pennsylvanians.
I am particularly thankful for The Olde Tyme Radio Network, which makes
it possible to bring praises in song to God every Thanksgiving and to
share and enjoy His wonderful gift of good music each week.
Most of all, I am personally thankful for our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ who enables us to sing and soar in His glory, grace, love, joy,
and eternal hope. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

As always, many thanks to Jerry Haendiges Productions for transferring
and restoring the original studio tapes for rebroadcast.
