Subject: Daisy's Pups
If memory serves, the "alpha dog" among Daisy's pups was named Elmer. At
least in the 1950s era comic books. I don't think any of the other pups
actually had names. They were just there.

Subject: Art Linkletter Memory
Walden Hughes noted,
I got a call from Art Linkletter who is going to come over to Frank
Bresee studio and record an interview for Yesterday USA. I am trying to
think what so to give Art when he comes over middle of next months.
Did he interview children in his radio days, too? I remember one child
whose exchange with him is burned in my memory, and it's worth sharing.
Mr. Linkletter, when he started his interview would throw out one or
another stock question ([removed], "If you could be any animal, which would
you want to be?") and let the kid take it from there. This one case, he
had a little girl with expressive, large eyes. He started, "Where do you
go when you go to sleep.
She replied, "I go to Heaven."
"Oh," Linkletter said. "And what do you see in Heaven?"
"I see little girl angels, and little boy angels, and cat angels, and dog
angels."
Linkletter interjected, "Were the dog angels barking?"
"No!!!" she said, her eyes getting very wide.
Somewhat surprised with the emphatic reaction, Linkletter asked, "Why
aren't they barking?"
"Because they're DEAD!"
Best child guest he ever had.

In answer to Cancilla Dominick's question, there were 960 episodes of Mr.
Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons in serialized form between 1937-43. Only a few
of these programs are in circulation. Full details of the "dual" Keen
premises, including when he searched for lost persons and when he sought
cold-blooded murderers, are distinguished in my book on the series to be
published in a few months by McFarland & Co. In addition to chapters on the
program, you'll find a detailed log outlining the kindly old tracer's 1,693
episodes, going all the way to late 1955.

Subject: The life and death of CDs
In the past I've read in the Digest information about open reel tape and
cassettes and their "life". And now here is some news on CDs.
In USA Today on Aug 27, page 3B, Kevin Maney's article discussed the life of
CDs. He mentioned that the Dutch magazine PC-Active ran extensive tests on a
number of CD brands. They found that some of the CD-R brands became
unreadable in as little as 20 months. Unfortunately his article did not name
names, so we don't know what manufacturers were involved in the test.
Is this something we should think about?

Subject: Blondie's Family
I did some checking, and found that the Bumstead
family was Blondie, Dagwood, Baby Dumpling (later
changed to Alexander), Cookie (the daughter) and Daisy
(the dog).
Baby Dumpling was the name of the Bumstead's
son when he was very young. Later, it was changed to
Alexander and then Cookie, the daughter, was born.
Baby Dumpling was not the name of the daughter.
