Unless I've been misinformed, while the Hindenburg explosion did occur on
May 6, 1937, the recording of the event by Herb Morrison was not broadcast on
the air over NBC networks in NYC until the following day, May 7th.
Morrison and his engineer, Charlie Nielsen, were employees of WGN, Chicago and
had been flown to NJ for this landing. They recorded the disaster as it
unfolded. They then flew back to Chicago with their record which was played on
the air there upon their return. But it was not aired over NBC in NYC until
the next day.
