To my friends out there in radioland:

My late grandfather, Donald Jones, was a saxaphone player in his younger
days. According to my mother, he played in Massachusettes in the mid-1930s
with a college group called The Lord Jeff Serendaders. Has anyone ever heard
of this group? If anyone had any memories and/or recordings that they could
share, I (and my family) would be very appreciative.

Best,

Karen Lerner

A&A fans may have already seen these old pictures, but they were new to me,
so I thought I'd pass them along. The site contains pictures of radio
station WMAQ Chicago in the 1920's. The pictures other than Gosden and
Correll are also interesting. Scroll down to see the first A&A picture
(DN-0088832) of the WMAQ radio actors in blackface and costume. There is
also another picture of the pair (DN-0088835) without makeup sitting on a
back porch laughing with a group of black men and boys. Both pictures are
from 1929. They can be found at - - -

Greetings,
Is there any information about daytime soaps, "Guiding Light," etc. that
started on radio? I seem to remember talk when I was young about soap operas
on radio, now on tv (around 1966.)
Thanks.
Linda
