Subject: OTR on Wi-Fi
My brother recently bought me a Wi-Fi Radio.
Now I am enjoying otr from all over the world.
Mostly US, but I am listening to the BBC 4 Extra
and hearing British radio drama and comedy.
The sound is excellent. All I could ask for is more
presets. There are only 6 on my radio.
If you have the chance to hear one, go for it!

Subject: Conrad Binyon's memories
That an OTR actor such as Conrad Binyon has shared some of his personal
memories with us on the Digest rather recently is something I'm sure many of
us appreciate. I certainly do. I hope he'll post more.

Some nostalgia from The Onion:
WASHINGTON-After the little ones had finished up the last of their supper,
moms had dashed out to get the last of the wash off the line before the sun
set, and dads had quietly finished smoking their pipes behind the evening
newspaper, eager citizens from coast-to-coast gathered around the radio set
to listen to the big ball game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas
Rangers, sources in America's living rooms, dens, and parlors confirmed
Wednesday.
The laughing, chattering families gaily congregated around the
floor-standing oak-and-Bakelite Philcos, Bendixes, and Zeniths to enjoy the
warm orange glow while the vacuum tubes properly warmed up, and were gently
but firmly urged to hush by the nation's fathers, who were concentrating on
carefully adjusting the radio dials to the correct broadcast station.
Americans of all ages let loose a small, spontaneous cheer of delight when
the devices finally crackled to life and the authoritative yet soothing
voice of the play-by-play announcer could be heard pronouncing the names of
the teams over the familiar and highly anticipated sounds of the World
Series.

Subject: Re: Norman Corwin dead at age 101
Norman's passing didn't make the front page of most publications but
it was widely reported by the media. While he joked with Leonard
Maltin about hoping to die "on an unimportant day so people would
take notice" I never saw much ego. It was always "never mind about
me, tell me what you've been up to."
Norman told me once he didn't want to live to be 90 or 100, and
quoted Ecclesiastes on the seasons. He was lucid to the end (as was
his father at 110) and was in fact working on a book, which sadly now
we'll never see.
RIP, dear friend.

Does anyone know of the existence of any copies of this John Wayne
radio show?
I do have one "Three Sheets to the Wind," but it stars Brian Donlevy,
not John Wayne.
