Subject: Benny and Seinfeld similarities
Both of them had shows which, to some degree, had something to
do with life in their homes. Jack in his home and Jerry in his New York
apartment.
Dennis Day and Rochester did a job similar to what George Costanza
did on Jerry's show.
Both had humorous storylines which people remember today regarding
money. There was Jack's miserliness and when Jerry tried to save money
by allowing Elaine to design and sew him "The Frilly Pirate Shirt".

Subject: Benny & Seinfeld
Tom Barnett makes some good comparisons of the Jack Benny
and Jerry Seinfeld shows. Except for breaking down the
fourth wall, and not providing an extended list, I simply
suggest Jack Benny and the TV show "Frasier" are similar --
especially the comedic timing, fast when it had to be,
medium as needed, slow to let some things soak in. I don't
know if it was all led by Kelsey Grammer, avowed admirer of
Benny, or if the writers and the rest of the cast all caught
the "Benny bug," but they did a fine job.

Subject: SUSPENSE TV broadcast
I might be wrong because I am relying on memory [removed] the SUSPENSE
telecast was an adaptation of "Nobody Loves Me" with Peter Lorre reprising
his role from the 1945 radio broadcast. The television version was an
experimental one-time color telecast on the West Coast and also done the same
year, 1945. UCLA does have a copy for screening should anyone want to go
check it out.
This is not uncommon as DUFFY'S TAVERN had an experimental telecast in 1947
in New York City (only on one television station and only 15 minutes long),
LUM AND ABNER had a couple experimental telecasts and THE WHISTLER had an
experimental telecast in 1946 in Los Angeles over a single TV station. In
most cases these were not pilots, but experimental telecasts and the networks
borrowed talent in an effort to provide something of value for their
executives to view.

Hi Everybody,
Does any one of a video copy of Frank Bresee Golden Days of Radio on CBS
back in 1977? Frank and I are trying to locate a copy of it for a special
event on Sunday 5-19-13. Take care,
Walden
