The star of "Say Goodnight Gracie," Frank Gorshin, has died at age 72.

It's gets pretty sad when we aren't just eulogizing OTR actors but their
impersonators as well.

As a person who made significant contributions toward keeping the memories of
those great OTR stars alive past their time, he will be missed.

It amazes me that everybody who has posted his (or her) opinion about Sealtest
products has completely ignored the one line slug jingle that usually came at
the conclusion of every Sealtest radio or television ad:

"GET THE BEST---GET SEALTEST!"

I think this was on the billboards too?

I have old World War II "Life" magazines that have old Sealtest Ice Cream ads
in them. So, it had to be sold on a national basis, too. Yes, there was an
old radio show, called "Sealtest Variety Theatre." Most dealers have at least
4 or 5 of these shows on CD's.

The late Frank Gorshin can be seen in robably on of his final performances in
the May 19 episode of CSI on CBS. Hope they do a little dedication on it.

Wasn't Frank Gorshin just great doing the best Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas,

looked a little bit like Richard [removed] the late 1950's he played the

she had never heard of Mary Margaret McBride.

Sometimes the people outside this hobby have some blank spaces on OTR

displayed the same blank spaces. In one part of her review, she writes:

"Most of the lady [removed] he describes are unfamiliar today--both the

series, Candy Matson, YU 2-8209 is probably unknown to most people."

Of course, I could do a search on Alta Vista, but then I'd miss
some of the fun of reminiscing.

So I think I'll have some of that fun right now. What I remember is the "Sealtest Big Top" at
noontime on Saturday on CBS-TV. It began with a clown who looked vaguely like Howdy
Doody's Clarabell, with a flashing light on his nose which read "CBS Presents." Then he put
his head down, and on the top of his head, it said, "Sealtest Big Top." The ringmaster was
Jack Sterling, and the show originated from WCAU-TV in Philadelphia. Yes, there WAS
another Philadelphia origination to the network before American Bandstand.

Later in the show, that clown participated in "Clown Corner" with other clowns. And I seem
to recall reading somewhere that the clown in question was Ed McMahon.

After it closed, there were plans to use the building for a disco named "The Ice Cream Factory". As I remember it, they even put the new signs on the building, but the deal fell through at the last minute, in a dispute with the city over parking. I haven't noticed Sealtest in stores here in central Illinois recently, but then, I haven't looked.
