Subject: Rex Stout

Can't remember the exact circumstances, but a Digest poster asked about Rex
Stout's war work. At the Internet Archives I found one episode of Our Secret
Weapon with that features him. Hope it is new to him.

Subject: Indie comment and question

While I usually lurk and only respond if I have a question, Martin
Grams, Jr.'s comment on the latest Indie has reminded me of a question I
have. Personally, I did not enjoy the latest Indie because I did not see
the humor that was in the previous ones. But Martin's comment about ILAM
and the flying reptiles reminded me of something I would like to know
and I believe that there are those here who can answer.

I grew up on radio and as a young boy learned to love movies, but I was
from the city at a time when traveling 30-40 miles was considered to be
a very long trip. At some point as a preteen, we traveled over 50 miles
to a very small town to visit relatives. There, for the first and only
time, I had the good luck to go to a traveling tent movie. To say that
this new thing was exciting would be an understatement. (The only movies
I went to were in buildings!) My memory tells me that one of the things
I saw there was part of a serial, if not several chapters, a Frank Buck
serial what included flying monkeys. It could have been a main feature.
Does anyone remember such a production and would you give me the title?
Thank you for your help.

Subject: NPR's Earplay

I have recently heard of a Drama show from NPR that had a long run
called Earplay. Does anyone have any info on this show or know where I
could listen to some episodes. Any help is appreciated.

Volume 3 of TV's SUSPENSE is due out by the end of the year. It's in the
works. There will not be a volume 4 because volume 3 composes most of the
remaining episodes exiting.

Subject: Re: Converting Cassette Tapes to CD

Several recent postings have been made regarding the
conversion of cassette tapes to CDs. As one can see
via the postings, there are a number of ways this can
be achieved. I would like to add a couple more options
if I may.

I have recently purchased the following items:

Plus Deck2c Tape Converter.

This device is installed in your computer and
connects to the "line-in" input via an adapter
(comes with it). Simple installation. This
device plays your cassette tapes , and with the
software which is also supplied, you can
convert the recordings to several formats,
including mp3, and store them on the hard
drive. From there, they are burned on to a
    CD using your favorite software.

Price varies, so be careful. I have seen
prices between $78 and $150. Google
    search will provide numerous sources.
I purchased mine from [removed] (No
affiliation.) They have a sale every now
    and then.

ION TAPE2PC Dual Cassette Tape Deck.

As the name implies, this device is a tape
deck, and connects to your computer via
a USB port. Audacity software comes
    this the unit.

Again, prices vary quite a bit. Google
search the device and you will find a
great number of sources for this unit,
including eBay. I have seen prices
    between $99 and $150.

For those interested in preserving their
vinyl collections, there are a number of
Turntables available which also have the
USB capability, ION included. Again, a
Google search shows a bunch of sources.

Hopes this is of some help!
