Subject: Great license plate
I made a chance & delightful discovery today. As I was driving home this
morning, I happened to glance over at a green sports car. The vanity
plates read "OTR FAN". Assuming it meant OTR in the sense we know it, I
was tickled pink to see those plates, and it made my day.

Subject: Inner Sanctum episodes
Does anybody know of any clubs or dealers that would have lo-gen copies of
(generally the later 1946-52) Inner Sanctum episodes? Terry lists a few,
RHAC had some (mostly 1945 era ones), but it's really hard to find quality
copies of Inner Sanctum. The episodes I'm looking for are "circulating",
but dont' seem to be easily obtainable (I'm not looking for the mp3s of
said eps). There's also some 1941 episodes, but I think only Goldin might
have those.
Also, there's a bunch of Mr. keen, Tracer of Lost Persons in circulation,
but I encountered the same problem. Perhaps Jim Cox or somebody could
steer me to where I can find quality copies.
I hardly ever listen to downloaded mp3s, but I downloaded some 1950s Ozzie
& Harriets (with the usual mp3 encoders' problems, offspeed, etc) just to
hear them. I wonder where the people got the episodes from in the first
place? I can't find many of the 1950s episodes (almost all AFRS).
I belong to SPERDVAC & RHAC, and have been very pleased with both. Are
there any other clubs that offer (quality) open reels, or quality CDs? I
don't do cassettes, unless it's a last resort. I would have liked to see
what NARA had in the catalog, but the club doesn't seem to be around anymore.

X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: Alternative section used was text/plain
This may sound like a silly question to ask, but here goes anyway.
I often hear from other collectors who tell me that a programs run was
xxx amount of episodes. Now, common sense tells me that this would
depend on how many days, as well as how many times a day and how
many times during the week and how many months it was broadcast. My
question is how many episodes would there be if a program was broadcast
in a typical year? Wouldn't that be 52 eps?
I've seen several programs listed as lasting for hundreds of eps in a
year.
Just curious,
Kenneth Clarke

Subject: Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention
The fourth annual Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention (MANC) is
scheduled for August 27-29, 2009 at the Clarion Hotel in Aberdeen,
MD. This event has plenty of OTR presentations plus dealers of
vintage broadcasting material, but the convention also spotlights
early television series, film serials, "drive-in" movies, and other
entertainment venues of a bygone era.
This August convention will include personal appearances by several
TV celebrities including James Best ("Dukes of Hazzard") and Johnny
Whitaker ("Family Affair") and among the scheduled presentations will
be "History of Sgt. Preston" and "Lux Radio Theater." Up to date
information on the convention, along with registration info, can be
found at their web site:

To provide attendees of past MANC conventions some pleasant memories,
and to attract new fans to this event, MANC is starting to post
videos on YouTube of presenters from their earlier conventions. Yours
truly is pleased to be featured in one of these, rambling on for nine
minutes in my update of radio's lady detectives, some of whom I
mischaracterized in my 2004 book "Private Eyelashes." You can take a

Subject: gildersleeve question
I've been listening to the Great Gildersleeve lately and have heard several
references to Judge Hooker drinking something called "kaylack water" or
"K-lak water"--I'm sure I'm spelling it incorrectly. Does anybody know what
that is? I imagine it was some kind of diet or health drink. No one but the
judge ever seemed interested in it. Thanks.
