Jim Meals writes:

I have never heard an episode of MY TRUE STORY. But
surely the show's long run makes it deserving of some accolades. Can
anybody provide information about this program and how it remained on
the air during a time that was not friendly to radio drama?

You brought back some wonderful memories - of my having to stay home
from school when I was sick! The sick days weren't many, but one of the
joys was lying in bed listening to "My True Story" on my bedside radio.
This was in the late 40s and early 50s. Unlike so many of the soaps,
each day's episode was complete, not continued the next day.

One of the things I liked about the show was the end credits when the
announcer said "Music by Rosario." I had no idea he was saying Rosa Rio,
whom I met in 1971 when, with WTIC Announcer Dick Bertel, recorded his
interview with her along with her playing the organ and piano in her
home in Connecticut. And you can hear Rosa's interview and music at
[removed]. You can also hear 89 hours
of interviews with other old time radio personalities, plus excerpts
from their programs at [removed]. Sadly, no
episodes of "My True Story."
