Subject: Correct date for Fibber show

Hello, anyone know the correct dates for two performances by Jim and Marion
from the Hollywood Radio Theater, hosted by Frank Brezee? I have them listed
as 1986, and Frank says congratulations on Jim's 65th anniversary in show
business. Perhaps this was done after the show? Can anyone clear this one
up. It can't possibly be from 1986, because Marion wasn't alive then, but
before she died would be long before Fibber's 65th anniversary in show
business.
Thanks a lot.
Matthew

Subject: Australian Fibber McGee

In issue #292 Matthew asked about an Australian episode of Fibber.

Matthew I am unaware of such a series in Australia. The database on
[removed] does not list Reg Wilcox or Fibber. Just email me
directly with the details of the episode and what identifies it as
Australian and lets find out if it is indeed an Aussie Fibber McGee and
Molly.

"Also, did they even have Johnson's Wax over there in Australia?" Thats
like asking if we have floors! Yes Johnson's Wax was/is here, I remember my
Mother using it on our wooden floors when I was a kid. Australia shared a
lot of the same products advertised in the [removed] hence we had our own Lux
Theatre etc.

Just to reiterate my interest in receiving a copy of Fred Foy's radio
interview -- cassette, CD or whatever. Since it is not being streamed,
I'm hoping that someone will record it and make it available. I'll buy,
trade or whatever.

Thanks very much.

Subject: Hal Stone

I am so happy that Hal chose to write about his radio career first and
not co- mingle in the same book the story of his later work in
television advertising. Thanks to Hal's latest posting, we all now know
the rest of the story.

Had his still yet unfinished work come out first, as he originally
intended, I probably would never have read it. ( I hate to admit it, but
I am not much of a reader.) When I got a copy of his book at the 2002
SPERDVAC Convention, I devoured it because it was so well written and so
informative about so many people in radio whom I was personally
interested in. Looking at his personal, never-seen before, photos of all
these people who were so much a part of my childhood, was almost like
looking at a family album. This is a book that I have not read just
once. I have referred to it many times, and it is one of the only books
that I take on my trips, for nighttime reading.

So now, because I am familiar with the easy style of the writer, I am so
looking forward to reading the exposé of the commercial aspects of
television, a subject in which I previously took very little interest.
Hal, you are a man of many talents: painting, sculpture, acting,
directing. (And many people who have not seen you do "Bob and Ray"
still do not know that you do it better than Bob and Ray themselves.)
You are still not famous, beyond the OTR readers, for your great writing
skills. But, in my opinion, you're a great writer too.
