Subject: Baby Snooks, volume 2
I just received in the mail BABY SNOOKS SCRIPTS volume 2 from Ben Ohmart of
Bear Manor Media.
Like the first volume, it contains a bunch of scripts to radio broadcasts
not known to exist in recorded form, plus three bonus scripts. LITTLE
OLIVE from February 1952 was Phil Rapp's attempt to get television
interested in Snooks, that never went anywhere. A script for Maxwell
Coffee Houre entitled LET'S LAUGH, LET'S SING with Snooks and Daddy. And
last but not least, a funny satire on the ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS series
with a script entitled UNCLE HITCHY AND LITTLE ALFRED, in Snooks and Daddy
style dialogue.
I love Baby Snooks so this is a welcome addition to my collection. The
Editor's Note states that he has enough scripts to do eight volumes. But .
. . obviously it depends on the sales. Ben Ohmart cannot produce books
that will not sell or reimburse the expenses so if you have the first
volume, grab the second as it's now available. If you have the first, then
grab the second and start adding to your collection. Send Ben the message
that you want to see another book (sending the message means buying a copy)
because he's got a treasure trove of uncirculated radio scripts and scripts
to "lost" broadcasts and if he doesn't publish them, we'll never know what
treasures are still buried. OTR history should be preserved in this fashion.

Subject: Command Performance
An old friend of mine in California wants to know where he can listen
to programs of "Command Performance" on the Internet. He has a few
cassettes of this series, but would like to listen to more.
Can anyone point him in the right direction?

Subject: Radio Spirits
Someone asked:
> I was wondering, does this mean that trading old-time radio shows will be
> back in power like the early days of trading? And what happens to the
> rights of the shows Radio Spirits owns?
Always was in power. Just low-key. That's why at conventions you can find
dozens of dealers selling OTR shows, an vendors today all over the internet.
Various writers, producers and companies own the copyrights, trademarks and
licensing for various programs. Radio Spirits never owned anything - they
merely paid companies and the rights owners of variosu radio programs a
licensing fee and royalty for recordings sold. Thus, even before Radio
Spirits, Conde Nast, who owns the trademarks to "Lamont Cranston," "Margo
Lane" "Who Knows What Evil Lurks in the Hearts of Men?" etc. enforced their
ownership on various companies like Radio Yesteryear and others. Even if
Radio SPirits is not purchased by another company, the rights to those
shows are still under ownership of those who retain the rights and can
still enforce their authority regarding distribution of unauthorized programs.
