May 8th will be the 75th Anniversary of Norman Corwin's ON A NOTE OF
TRIUMPH, the show he prepared and broadcast on V-E Day. I'll be
broadcasting this program at 8 [removed] Eastern Time on my radio show over
WFHB-FM. It streams live from the station's website at
[removed] and also from
[removed] . Radiofreeamerica also
archives the program for two weeks after the broadcast, at
[removed] .

ON A NOTE OF TRIUMPH has been called "the greatest single broadcast of
the 20th Century," and it still retains enormous power, even after
three-quarters of a century. The writing, and the use of sound, are
amazing, announcer Martin Gabel's performance is just brilliant, and the
original score by famed composer Bernard Herrmann is one of his best.

Anyone with a living memory of World War II will be fascinated, but I'd
like to suggest that its even more important for younger people to hear
this program.

"Post proofs that brotherhood is not so wild a dream as those who profit
by postponing it pretend." -- Norman Corwin, 1945
