Subject: "Lum and Abner" audio comic strip
Hi folks! One of my readers suggested I remind everyone about our audio
productions designed for our blind friends. Each week, my "Lum and Abner"
comic strip is accompanied by a full OTR-style audio adaptation (voices,
music, sound effects). Currently, award-winning broadcaster-educator Dr. Joe
Oliver is our announcer. Sam Brown, as Dick Huddleston, is our narrator and a
character as well. I usually provide other voices. Marc Ridgeway is our
composer-musician. As we go along, other talented folks contribute voices.
This is all done for free, and our gift to our blind friends and everyone
else who wants to listen.
Here are links to the most recent audio comics. We started a new story last
week:

Subject: I figured out why there's such confusion with
the later Jungle Jims
I've discovered why there's such massive confusion over the dating and
numbering of the later Jungle Jims. Jungle Jim ETs were backed with
Front Page Drama for most of the run. During the run up to 1942, the
program numbers of the Jungle Jims and Front Page Dramas do not match,
since Jungle Jim originated later than Front Page. Sometime between
mid-1942 and mid-1944, this changed. As of mid-1944, suddenly the
program numbers of JJ and FPD MATCH and the JJ numbers are increased
quite a bit commensurate to the actual run. This suggests that there is
no content for the "missing" numbers. Instead, at some point, the
Jungle Jims jump ahead to match the program number of Front Page Drama.
This random jump has confused many collectors, including myself, over
the years. So many were confused that wartime shows suddenly had
numbers that should have been aired in 1946 or 7 had the numbers been
linear.
I discovered this by chance, via a few discs from that period.
