Hi,
Still enjoy reading the OTR Digest after many years of doing so. I have to add
my two cents worth to the V2012 #192 edition mentioning Jeff Chandler's
birth on Dec 15th, 1918. One of his radio credits was unmentioned, that being
his role as Chad Remington, frontier lawyer, in the radio show Frontier Town
aired from 1952 to 1953. I was a pre-teen at the time and had hours of great
entertainment listening to Chad's adventures. The intro to the episodes
always mentioned Calgary (Alberta, Canada) as one of the frontier towns and
that made it quite special to me, as I grew up on the Canadian prairies. One
of Jeff's most remarkable attributes was his voice, so unique and pleasant
to listen to, great for radio and just as great when he went on to star in so
many western movies. Sure miss those old days, the excitement of youth and the
vivid images conjured up by those terrific radio voices. Really good
memories!

Per ListMaster Summers's request, my favourite Christmas shows include:
DUFFY'S TAVERN: Miracle in Manhattan; AMOS 'N' ANDY: Andy Plays Santa Claus;
DRAGNET: The Big Little Jesus; ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY: The Gifts of Madge and
Guy; also, any Christmas-themed FIBBER McGEE AND MOLLY or the Christmas
shopping-themed episodes of THE JACK BENNY SHOW, though I don't have a
particular favourite for either Jack nor Fibber.
Hope this helps!
Yours in
the wreath-er,
Derek Tague

Subject: Dorothy Erwin
Dorothy Erwin wrote a script for The Shadow entitled "The Secret of
Valhalla Lodge." It was the only one she wrote for The Shadow. And
that's all I know about her. Can anyone here give me more information?
Was this a pen name or her real name? Did she write for other series?
(I checked [removed] and John Dunning's Encyclopedia, but found
nothing.) Born? Died? Other jobs? Anything?
Thanks in [removed]
John

Two favorites for the holiday:
Quiet Please: "Berlin 1945" A bunch of GIs throw themselves a Christmas
party in their barracks.
Grand Central Station: "Miracle for Christmas" A disillusioned ambulance
driver is sent out with a new doctor on Christmas Eve.
