Subject: #OldRadio IRC Chat this Thursday Night!

A weekly [removed]

For the best in OTR Chat, join IRC (Internet Relay Chat), StarLink-IRC
Network, the channel name is #OldRadio. We meet Thursdays at 8 PM Eastern
and go on, and on! The oldest OTR Chat Channel, it has been in existence
over nine years, same time, same channel! Started by Lois Culver, widow
of actor Howard Culver, this is the place to be on Thursday night for
real-time OTR talk!

Our "regulars" include OTR actors, soundmen, collectors, listeners, and
others interested in enjoying OTR from points all over the world. Discussions
range from favorite shows to almost anything else under the sun (sometimes
it's hard for us to stay on-topic)...but even if it isn't always focused,
it's always a good time!

For more info, contact charlie@[removed]. We hope to see you there, this
week and every week!

Subject: Spike Jones' 100th

Spike Jones' 100th birthday is, or would've been, Dec. 14th.

Although there have been lots of things discussed this
year--including an audio version of my book, a radio syndication deal
and an exhibit at the Grammy Museum in [removed] regret o say I know of
no actual plans or events of any magnitude. Hopefully somebody make a
liar out of me.

If you have an OTR show, the ball's in your court. And if you happen
to be in range of the Morris Museum in Morristown NJ on the 12th, my
friends Dan Levinson & Molly Ryan and Jeff & Anne Barnhart intend to
spike up their jam session that night at my suggestion.

Subject: re: The Cinnamon Bear

While I regret that "Radio's Golden Age" couldn't quite program "The Cinnamon
Bear" in the optimum manner that Dennis Crow recommends (such are the
limitations of a weekly two-hour show), I'm pleased to say that our show has
devoted November and December to featuring the adventures of Paddy O'Cinnamon
and Judy and Jimmy Barton. This coming Sunday (noon to 2 pm CST at
[removed]), we'll continue the saga of Maybe Land with two more
chapters of the Cinnamon Bear, in addition to seasonal episodes of "Yours
Truly, Johnny Dollar" and "The Burns and Allen Show." It's a pleasure to
bring the Cinnamon Bear to cyberspace and if any of you feel like tuning
[removed], we'd be much obliged to you!

Subject: Re: The Cinnamon Bear!

Did anyone ever reply to the query someone posted about the complete
text of the "Cinnamon Bear" script? That would be VERY welcome!

Alternatively, a version of the story of the "Cinnamon Bear" in
storybook or even picturebook form (complete, if you please, and as
actually told in the radio play -- no abridgements or "elaborations",
thank you very much!) would do almost as well. In some ways perhaps
even better.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

[removed]: The line lengths and spacing, and the mail headers, on this
message will probably look quite different from what you are used to
coming from me -- I'm on vacation with my brother in California and am
therefore being forced to used my ISP's WebMail interface, instead of
my normal Unix shell account and Pine mailer. Ick.

There is/was an ABC show called "Issues and Answers."
Don't know if this is still on or not.

Its title was changed to "This Week." The title may have changed again,
but there's still an ABC Sunday morning news show.
