Here's a YouTube video of a few minutes from a Lone Ranger radio reenactment
wherein Fred Foy played the Lone Ranger, just as he had done on March 29,
1954, when Brace Beemer had laryngitis and Fred had to step in at the last
moment. This video is from the 1996 Cincinnati OTR convention:

For a long time now I've been archiving OTR Digest issues without reading them
because my ebay business in retirement has nearly outgrown my ability to
conduct it without hired help and because I am the principal caregiver for my
dear wife was overtaken by Alzheimer's last spring.

But today I feel compelled to check in and read the posts about Fred Foy.
Last night I was watching the NBC Nightly News and coming back from a break
they played tape of Clayton Moore in costume riding the great horse Silver
while Fred Foy intoned the words with which all OTR fans are so familiar. I
immediately knew what the story would be that was being introduced and was
overcome with a great sense of sadness as tears welled up in my eyes. I've
been hearing that wonderful voice for over 65 years. How grateful I am to
have a slew of tapes of OTR episodes and a few from TV.

Fred Foy was one of the great voices of classic radio. As long as there are
OTR fans his voice will continue to be heard.

With sadness, regards to all,

Art Funk
