For the several people who have been writing about where Heritage Radio
Theatre for this week was - We must apologize. Bothe Jerry and myself have
been trying to work with
the Post Office to find out why we are having delays with 1st class mail. They
have suggested that we use "tracking" to better insure delivery. This seems a
bit unusual a solution to me since 1st class mail shoul certain reach any
continental destination within 5 days. In any event, we still have a program
dfor what is left of the week:
THE GREEN HORNET - MBS 10/31/39 "The Parking Lot Racket"
THE HALL OF FANSTASY MBS/Synd 08/22/52 "Castle of Levoca"
THE SHADOW OF FU MANCHU CBS/Synd. May, 1933 episode - listen for Hanley
Stafford (Snooks' Daddy) in the cast.
Be sure and enjoy all the otyher OTR replays too.
Sorry for the delay - We aim to keep on schedulae at:
The Olde Tyme Radio Network - [removed] 24/7

Subject: Paul Temple
David Rogers mentioned he loves listening to Paul Temple. I enthusiastically
second that! I first heard the series in the early 1980s when a public radio
station played them here in the Los Angeles area. Recently that WONDERFUL
BBC 7 played them again. That series is such a joy to listen to: the stories
are great and the acting terrific. Wouldn't it be nice if some of the
earlier Temple series could be found and aired.

Subject: WTIC's Golden Age of Radio
The April "WTIC's Golden Age of Radio" programs
with Dick Bertel and Ed Corcoran, can be heard at
[removed]
Program 26 - May, 1972 - Don Ameche
Dick and Ed interview Don Ameche. Born Dominic Felix Amici in
Kenosha, Wisconsin, Ameche began his career in vaudeville with
Texas Guinan.
He made his film debut in 1935 and by the late thirties had established
himself as a leading movie actor in Hollywood. Among his most
memorable roles in radio was opposite Frances Langford in "The
Bickersons."
For his contribution to radio, Don Ameche has a star on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame at 6313 Hollywood Blvd. and a second star at 6101
Hollywood Blvd. for his contribution to the television industry.
Program 27 - June, 1972 - Donald Buka
Donald Buka had his start as a child actor on the radio show, "Let's
Pretend," the major life work of Nila Mack, a Kansas woman who had
been an actress on Broadway and in vaudeville.
On this "Golden Age of Radio" we'll hear excerpts from "Let's Pretend,"
"X Minus One," and "The Kate Smith Show."
In the 1970's Dick Bertel created the program for WTIC in Hartford, CT.
The idea came to Dick after he interviewed radio collector-historian Ed
Corcoran a few times. "The Golden Age of Rado was first broadcast in
April, 1970; Ed was Dick's co-host.
For the next seven years the program featured interviews with radio
actors, writers, producers, engineers and musicians from radio's
early days. Each show featured excerpts from Ed's collection.
