Subject: Cincinnati Nostalgia Expo 2013
Mark your calendars; there WILL be an old time radio convention in
Cincinnati in 2013!
When Bob Burchett announced last year that the 2012 convention really
for real was the last one, there were many of us who just couldn't
accept that as the final word. Somehow, in a moment of utter
recklessness, I agreed to try to fill Bob's shoes and carry on the
tradition with an all-new convention. Thus, The Cincinnati Nostalgia
Expo was born.
The 2013 edition will be held at the Crowne Plaza Blue Ash hotel in
Cincinnati on May 31 and June 1, 2013. This is the same hotel where
Bob's convention has been held for the last couple of years. Our
special guests will include perennial Cincy favorite, Bob Hastings along
with, Ivan Cury of Bobby Benson and the B-Bar-B Riders fame. They will
be appearing in an assortment of old time radio live audio dramas
produced and directed, as in years past, by Don Ramlow.
The expo will also feature a large dealers room. I've already received
commitments from many of the dealers who supported Bob's convention in
the past so there will be some familiar faces there. Plus, we'll have
a number of presentations on OTR and nostalgia topics.
One of the things that always set the Cincinnati convention apart from
the others was the ability of attendees to audition and have the chance
to perform in the live audio dramas alongside veteran old time radio
professionals. That tradition will be continued at the new Nostalgia
Expo so, if you've ever had an itch to perform, this is an event you
won't want to miss.
The cost for admission is $10/day in advance or $12/day at the door.
For more information check out our website at [removed]
You can register on-line or download our flyer which includes a mail-in
registration blank. We'll post more information on the website from
time to time as it becomes available.
The Cincinnati Nostalgia Expo is only six months away. I hope to see
you there.

Subject: CBC -- no more drama
Sorry to learn that the CBC has dropped radio drama
from their schedule. I have several recordings of their
work. "The white Christmas of Archie Nicotine" and a
comedy version of Dickens' "Christmas Carol" are two
of my favorites.
Maybe someday the Canadian government will see
fit to restore the money to fund this valuable and
entertaining part of their schedule.
Fortunately, I can still get the BBC radio plays on
my Wi-Fi radio. Maybe there are others that I could
get. Anyone know of other English-language radio
drama on the air?

I found my missing Voice of Firestone program for Christmas 1945, so I don't
need to find another copy.
However, I am still glad to trade with anyone else who wants old time radio
programs.
I am especially interested in Bell Telephone Hour, NBC Symphony Orchestra,
Longines Symphonette, and Voice of Firestone. (Of course, i'm always looking
for regular oldtime radio shows to add to my collection.)
I have a very good collection of Family Theatre shows if anyone is interested,
(You can see my recommendations of 10 Family Theatre programs that I
especially enjoy at [removed]. Just click articles "Steve
