Jan Bach's missive concerning Deanna Durbin's radio appearances reminded me
that I have a copy of the 28 June, 1948 Screen Guild Theatre "Up In Central
Park" which stars Deanna Durbin. A fine show with wonderful singing by
Deanna.

Hi all--

Something you all may be able to help me with: what happened to Bill
Goodwin and Burns and Allen? When B&A went to TV, Goodwin was along for maybe
the first season or so, then he left and was replaced by Harry Von Zell. But
I've often wondered why. Did he and B&A have a falling out? Info on Goodwin
seems to be sparse online, but it didn't look like he departed for his own
show or something. Does anyone know what happened?

On a related note, I did
come across the beginning of an old Time article from 1945 about an apparent
rift Goodwin and Burns were having after Goodwin's name appeared in some
advertisements in lettering as big as Burns' and Allen's. But I needed a
subscription to read the rest of the article and, alas, I don't have one of
those. Anyone know what happened there?

Thanks,
Mike
