Look for him under correct spelling: Hy Averbach.

The correct spelling, as I have always seen it, is A-V-E-R-B-A-C-K. Or did he
change the spelling from what Lois Culver stated?

Mary Lou Wallace

Was listin to an episode of YTJD: The Too Much Money Matter. A character
named Sam Edwards was in the program for about 10 seconds. Johnny mentioned
" ... haven't I seen ou somewhere before, or mabe your picture ... " and
Sam gave a nervous "no" and left.

In the closing credits, Sam Edwards was one of the cast. Maybe even played
himself.

Is this significant? Who is Sam Edwards?

[ADMINISTRIVIA: For photos from the last time Sam attended an OTR convention,

I was always under the impression that the ABC network was once
known as NBC Blue. Wasn't there (in the earlier days of OTR) an NBC
Red and an NBC Blue network? It seems to me there was. Then later on,
NBC Red came to be known as just NBC, and NBC Blue came to be
known as ABC. Isn't this true, or am I mistaken?

Dear Larry, Jim, & all-

From: lawrence albert <albertlarry@[removed];
Subject: O Henry

I agree with Jim about how sad it is that so few know about a man who
produced over 600 short stories in a relative brief time (1898 - 1910)

Well, here are some [removed]

For the last several years, Quicksilver Radio Theater has been honored to be
a part of the OpenHouseNy event at The Church of the Transfiguration (that
landmark is, of course, better known as "The Little Church Around The
Corner,"
and as a longtime friend to performers.)

We've presented Audio Drama/Reader's Theater pieces that pertain to past
members and friends of that Church, and of an organization housed there, The
Episcopal Actor's Guild. We have used such guest artists as Guild-er Arthur
Anderson (many OTR/FOTR/OTRD folk have been, or are, members of the EAG,
including Lon Clark.)

One of those members, FOTR's own Bill Nadel, happens to be a relative of Mr.
"Henry" (nee Porter)! As O. lived and worked mere blocks from there, and his
funeral took place there, we did original adaptations of "The Door of
Unrest, " and "The Romance of a Busy Broker" (whose punchline is about The
Little
Church.) All introed by cousin Bill.

(Who confirmed the family history, by the way: O. was what was called then a
"problem drinker, " and very much a black sheep!)

This week Imagination Theatre will air a radio adaptation of the O. Henry
story "The Marionettes." written especially for us by British writer M. J.
Elliott. If you get a chance please give it a listen.

Salute!
