The BBC Press Office website has an item saying that on 17th August BBC Radio
2 will start a 3 part documentary series about the AFRS V-Discs. Best way to
see the item is just to 'Google' BBC Press Office, then go to Programme Info,
then on to Network Radio, and scroll down to 17th August.

Hi
There was a program about the future. The story line was that when a person
turned 60 they were eliminated. In this show, the wife accompanies her
husband, who has turned 60, on his journey to "the sixty". Does anyone
remember the name of the program and the episode?

Subject: [removed] Postal Service to Honor Classic TV Shows,
Many Based on Radio
On Tuesday, August 11, 2009, the [removed] Postal Service will issue a
20-stamp sheet called "Early TV Memories." The 20 stamps honor 20
different early TV shows. "Dragnet," "The Adventures of Ozzie and
Harriet," "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show," and many more
originated as old-time radio shows. I am very disappointed that "The
Jack Benny Program" is not one of the 20 honored shows.
To read about all 20 shows, go to:

Subject: Ceremony at Los Angeles Police Academy for New
"Dragnet" Stamp
On Tuesday, August 11, 2009, the Los Angeles Police Department is
hosting an event at the Police Academy to commemorate the release of a
"Dragnet" postage stamp.
The program will include one of Jack Webb's wives; Harry Morgan, who
played Sgt. Friday's partner in the color TV version of "Dragnet;" and
current LAPD Chief William J. Bratton. It is the highest honor having
the Los Angeles Chief of Police there honoring "Dragnet" and Jack Webb.
To see a photo of the "Dragnet" postage stamp and read an article that
begins with "The story you are about to read is true," go to:

I just read something of interest. Joseph Kearns had his home built
around a Wurlitzer organ. Does anyone know if the house still stands
and if so is the organ still the centerpiece of the home?

I want to thank Mr. Grams for his pointing me in the direction of the You
Tube presentation on the Green Hornet.
I was almost giddy by the end - I had no idea the entire run of Green Hornets
still existed! Woo hoo!
Thanks for the hint on the book source, Amazon is cancelled, and an order was
placed through your site.

Subject: Jews on the Radio
There was a rabbi named Jacob Tarshish who broadcast on CBS in the mid-1930s
and then on Mutual from 1936-41. His program was called "The Lamplighter" and
apparantly consisted of inspirational talks aimed at a general(not
specifically Jewish) audience. I get the impression that it was made clear he
was a rabbi though. There is a paragraph about him on this page which has a
link to a reproduction of a brochure printing one of his talks:
