Subject: "Don't You Believe It!" In Hollow Voice?

I'm still looking for an answer to my original query.

Wasn't there an old radio show with the title "Don't You Believe It!"?

Are there any recordings of this show available? If it has the line in
the now-traditional Hollow Voice, that could well be the answer.

From: "Andrew Godfrey" <niteowl049@[removed];

Ann Sothern was in Private Secretary which ran on CBS from 1953 to
1957.

According to Alex MacNeil's "Total Television," "Private Secretary"
reruns were also shown on NBC in the summers of 1953 and 1954 as a
replacement for "Your Hit Parade." On CBS, "Private Secretary"
alternated with Jack Benny on Sunday nights.

After "Private Secretary" came "The Ann Sothern Show," which ran from
October 1958 through September 1961, also on CBS. Sothern played
Katy O'Connor, assistant manager of the Bartley House, a New York
hotel. In March 1959, the original cast, with a few exceptions, were
dumped and replaced by cast members from "Private Secretary" in new
roles. Don Porter once again played Ann Sothern's boss, this time as
Mr. Devery, the new hotel manager, and the show looked remarkably
like "Private Secretary" for the rest of its run.

Some of you will remember:

E N O Eno.
Are you feeling low? Eno.
It's mild and gentle, and good, good tasting.
E N O.

Speaking of that particular jingle, does anyone know where I can get it? I
have a few Eno commercials done by Henry Morgan, thanks to Danny Goodwin, but
I'd really like to get that jingle and associated commercial. Thanks. Devon

Dear OTRs;
Peace.
The opening Straight Arrow theme included the spelling of NABISCO by Frank
Bingman in a rhymic fashion to the sounds of tom-toms created by the
skillful Milton Charles at the organ. Years later when talking to someone
familiar with the Injun-Uities cards, free inside every box of Nabisco
Shredded Wheat, but who did not remember the show all I needed to do was
begin the spelling of NABISCO and they would remember. In fact my
introduction of Frank Bingman was his beautiful voice reenacting the opening
over the phone one Saturday morning.

Subject: Re: getting up to speed

Hi all.

Sorry I haven't been heard from for quite some time. Nothing wrong here.
Just a major corruption of my software that made it impossible for me to
download or send. Problem was detected and solved yesterday, and I'm still
wading through tons of messages.

But a few recent Digests caught [removed] precipitated the following
comments.

As to the request for a little financial help in maintaining the Digest from
our revered? List-master Charlie (chuckles) Summers, I urge all of you OTR
fans to make a small contribution to the cause. I know of no one who does
more for your hobby than that guy. Can you imagine how much time he spends
on this stuff each day?

Next item. jim taylor did a piece "In rememberance of Larry Robinson". What
the heck happened to my childhood friend Larry. Did he pass away? I spent an
enjoyable evening reminiscing with Larry at the last FOTR convention, and he
looked hale and hearty then.

Maybe if I continue to download past issues of the Digest that have been
piling up, I'll get filled in. But if he is no longer with [removed] sure hits
home. [removed] were about the same age. Youngsters, to be sure. Yikes!

Then, my Cincy OTR Convention buddy, Randy Story, [removed]

I am visiting my very first FOTR in a few weeks and I am looking forward to
meeting many of you for the very first time, also.
I hope to have the time to meet and greet all of you, but I am curious about
some of your feelings as previous attendees of the FOTR convention. How was
it? What was your overall feeling about it? What can I expect?
Let me know either through this digest or email me directly.

Randy, Randy, Randy. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. Do you mean to tell us that you have
never been to FOTR. I find that hard to believe, coming from as big an OTR
fan as you are.

Gee [removed] get to take Randys FOTR virginity. And Randy, old pal, you
will be "deflowered" royally. Simply [removed] is the big Poobah of all
OTR Conventions. You will meet, rub elbows with, and enjoy performances by
most of the surviving OTR stars that live in that major broadcasting market.

Up to now, you had to be content with the likes of Hastings, Rosemary and me
at the Cincy Con. (They had a limited budget for guests). And we work cheap.
:)

But your head will swim, and your eyes bug out, when you see so many world
class former radio stars gathered in one place.

Your experiences at Cincy, to be sure, were most enjoyable. That's a fun
convention, much smaller and intimate, yet always upbeat and entertaining.
And at Cincy, lots of amateurs get to participate to help fill the roles
during the recreations. I recall you working with me a few times.

But at FOTR, they will not need your services. There will be so many OTR
veterans in attendance, that every role, in every recreation, will be filled
by a pro who has OTR credits up the ying yang. Sit back, relax, and enjoy
Radio Broadcasting like it used to be.

See ya there. You will bless Derek for twisting your arm to get you to
finally hang out with the big bad city slickers.

Subject: A Halloween Mystery

Hi all,

I hope that you have not yet grown weary of my questions on behalf of
customers, because I have another one for you.

I have someone who is hunting for a program about an archeologist that opened
up a tomb only to have Isis try to lure him to open up her sarcophogis.
Apparently, it is something that used to be broadcast around Halloween. Does
anyone have any idea what this might be?

I would appreciate any ideas you may have.

Due to health reasons back then, Dick Van Patten couldn't be part of the
Seattle OTR gathering in June. But, he is coming on November 4 to an event
the
Radio Enthusiasts of Puget Sound call "Radio Memories." He will be joined by
the wonderful Rosemary Rice, and by Dick's TV son from "Eight is Enough",
Grant Goodeve. Other talented honorary and other members will be part of the
casts of "My Favorite Husband" and "Suspense" re-creations. In the latter,
the
episode is The House in Cypress Canyon. Plenty of panels and interview,
along with a smashing surprise conclusion no one will want to miss. The
program will run from 9:30-3:15 on Saturday, November 4 at St. Andrews Hall in
Renton, WA Cost is just $14. Details can be found at [removed]

Have you ever heard of it? I googled "Babo." Forget it.
"Babo cleanser" brought over 5K citations.
Now here with a colourful [removed] BAB-O
