> 3. Truth or Consequences (Lever Bros -- Ivory Soap)
Not to pick an argument but Ivory was ... is ... perhaps always will be ...
the flagship product of the Procter & Gamble Co. -- not of Lever Brothers
Co. Ivory made P&G what it is, certainly until Tide and Crest and Pampers
came along in mid 20th century. I believe the two imposing edifices at P&G
headquarters in Cincinnati are still referred to as the Ivory towers by
insiders. Lever Brothers' comparable bar was called Lux.

Subject: Eileen Barton
OTR pop singer Eileen Barton died June 27 at age 76. Best remembered for her
1950 hit recording "If I Knew You Were Coming,
I'd've Baked A Cake." From DeLong's "Radio Stars" book - - - At age 7 she
was singing 18 songs a week over WMCA and making appearances with Vallee and
Cantor. At age 17 she was singing duets with Frank Sinatra on his CBS show
(Frank Sinatra Show-1944-45). By August 1945 she had her own NBC program for
teens every Saturday morning where she sang, acted and emceed (Teentimers
Show-1945). She had a long run on "Community Sing" with Berle and appeared
as a guest on "Your Hit Parade" in the early 50s. She has at least 15 OTR
radio credits to her name.

Subject: Rocky King
Dear folks;
Pray for peace in the world.
With all this talk about Rocky King I just wanted to note that during the
last year of Straight Arrow, 1951, Sheldon Stark, who wrote all the
Straight Arrow scripts, began writing Rocky King March 3, 1951 and
eventually wrote the first 17 shows. I can find no evidences that Stark was
ever given credit for his work. When interviewing Stark I never ask much
about Rocky King. the only reason that King was mention was that on the
ledger sheet copies that Stark sent me regarding Straight Arrow Rocky King
was scripts were listed. This ledger sheet was used by Stark to keep up
with monies earned and a most reliable research item. It is noted on-line
that there are a few shows in circulation, does anyone know where I could
get a video copy?

PS The forthcoming definitive book on Straight Arrow will soon be available.
