Hello again --
I know of a couple of rare fifteen-minute broadcasts of a program called
"Teller of Hawaiian Tales" -- Mike, could that be what you are referring to?

Mike Thomas asked if "...anyone here ever heard of a show (otr) called
"Teller of Tales"?

I'm not familiar with an OTR series with that precise name, but I do
have two shows from a series named "Teller of Hawaiian Tales". The
programs that I have in my collection feature a historical "tale" about
Hawaii sandwiched between a musical number at the beginning and end of
the show.

Two of my favorite Christmas shows:

-- "Room for a Stranger," starring Frank Sinatra as a pilot home for
Christmas, originally broadcast Dec. 19, 1946, on Hallmark's Radio Reader's
Digest over CBS.

-- "Why the Chimes Rang," starring Harold Peary, and later Willard Waterman,
as Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, who learns an important lesson while reading
a Christmas story to children. Broadcast several times on "The Great
Gildersleeve," including Dec. 14, 1949, over NBC.

I can answer one of the questions very quickly: The one show I always listen
to at Christmas time is Fibber McGee & Molly's Painting the Christmas Tree

A couple favorites:

Red Skelton's skit where he, a bum, tries his best to get arrested so he
can get a warm room and a meal, but everybody gives him a break.

Green Christmas - Stan Freeberg (sp?) objects to the commercialization of
Christmas

Dragnet - tv and radio? - Friday investigated the theft of a baby Jesus
statue from a church - turns out a little boy prayed for a wagon and
promised the baby Jesus He;s have the first ride. The boy got the wagon and
fulfilled his promise.

The Stingiest Man in Town - record album from a tv show from 'way back - it
was a flop, but I love the music.
