Can anyone enlighten me as to what it means when a radio show is announced
as "partially transcribed?" I hear it on The Great Gildersleeve Show.
Much appreciated.

A hearty thanks to every one of you who participated in the old-fashioned
"card shower" which I organized for the 81st birthday of OTR historian and
author, Jim Cox. We filled his USPS mail box in Louisville with nearly four
dozen cards and letters so congratulations were abundant. Mail poured in from
friends, fans, and admirers throughout the USA.
The surprise couldn't be announced in advance on this OTR Digest venue, as
Jim would have seen it, but it was posted by Martin Grams, Jr. on Facebook, a
social platform Jim never checks. I also emailed as many of you that I could,
asking that you send either a store-bought or homemade card to arrive on Oct
22nd.
Jim knew most of you from whom he received greetings. However neither he nor
his wife, Sharon, could recall "Bill" from Augusta, GA (no last name or
street address) and a few others. No matter-whether you are a friend of
his for umpteen years or a brand-new fan, your participation in this surprise
shower is deeply appreciated.

1947 "The one, the only Groucho" Marx appeared as quizmaster on You
Bet Your Life for the first time on ABC. ... By the way, who is buried in
Grant's tomb?
President Grant and Julia Grant (President Grant's wife).

... It took until this day in > 1920 for the Westinghouse radio station to receive a license to >
broadcast. ... On November 2, 1920, the station aired the returns > of
the Harding/Cox election ... the first radio programming to > reach an
audience of any size ... approximately> 1,000 people.
I believe I've heard (and others on this forum may know the details)
that KDKA was not in fact the first radio broadcast, and that there
were some others (including one in Canada) that preceded it.
