I have a transcription of a program called "Let's See Your Driver's License"
Looks to me like it was created by an advertising or talent agency. Not
part of any series. Early-ish 30s, SF shellac. Totally uninteresting
program, except for a peak into life in the 1930s, or how it was
portrayed in this instance.

Subject: New book now available
There's good news, and there's good news. First the good news: "American
Radio Networks" is now available, released this week! The 236-page history
is filled with factual and anecdotal details behind the quartet of
transcontinental aural webs, local and regional hookups, and issues and
trends that affected them between the 1920s and today. The impact of TV,
the disc jockey, news and talk shows, satellite technology and consolidation
are dealt with in full accounts. There are lots of personality profiles
included. My attempt has been to keep it lively so even those who don't
naturally gravitate toward history will find it not merely informative but
enjoyable. An Appendix visits the aural chains that have passed from
existence. Never published Photographs, Chapter Notes, Bibliography and
Index are included.
Now for the second part of the good news. When it was first announced by
McFarland months ago, "American Radio Networks" was promoted at $55 in
hardback. They've made a decision in recent weeks to put it in softcover
and make it available at $45. In these crushing economic times, I applaud
that and believe you will like it, too.
"American Radio Networks" with Ed Murrow on the color cover is available
now at [removed] or call Monday-Friday daytime 800-253-2187. FAX
number anytime is 336-246-4403. Happy reading!

Steve Jansen talked about promoting OTR in your local
communities
Always a worthy cause.
(Paging Max Schmid, speaking of which; Max get in [removed])
the University of Illinois NPR station also
carries the SCA station for the blind
As do several radio - and a few TV (see below) - stations. Anyone long a
part of the OTR, MAD, and FOTR worlds knows how much a part of those circles
the vision-impaired are.
it's called the Illinois Radio Reader
And there are many nationally, often similarly named. I'm a very proud
former reader at NYC's "In Touch." It was founded by a Wall Streeter who lost
his vision, yet wanted to remain "in touch" with current periodicals.
Alas, when it was taken over by the Jewish Guild for the Blind, they
dropped the founder's mission of also EMPLOYING sight-challenged staff, and I
and several others left.
Good move Doug; and great idea for others. Quicksilver's first webcasts
were by way of Denver's "Rocky Mountain Reader Service", and as that is a
TV-carrier signal, you don't even need a dedicated receiver, just cable TV.
Best,
-Craig W.

Subject: Fibber, and company
Hello all
Here's something I have often wondered about. Why, in Molly's absence while
ill, they did not continue to call it "The Fibber McGee, and Molly Show,"
instead of "Fibber, and Company." I would think they should have done that
out of respect for Molly, if nothing else.
