Eddie Hubbard & the Browsers: "I'll Get By" with "Apple Pie"
Again, we join Eddie Hubbard and the Browsers in Phil Holdman's
"Whine/Wine" Celler in Chicago for a show as originally broadcast
probably sometime in the 1980's. Yes, "The Browsers" are on the air once
again here on Jerry Haendiges' Network with big band trivia fun,
history, and some of the greatest music of the 20th century music. A few
highlights from among the wonderful big band recordings that we'll hear
this time include " "I'll Get By," "The Isle of Capri," "Mom, I Miss
Your Apple Pie," "The Object of My Affection," "Misty," "Lonesome Old
Town," and "Angel Eyes." Instead of local commercials we'll enjoy more
great tunes like "Charmaine," "Hard to Get," "She Was Five, And I Was
Ten in Puppy Love," and "The Continental." Among performers are the
Mills Brothers, Harry James & Dick Haymes, Nat King Cole. Artie Shaw,
and Dean Hudson & the Dixie Debs. Remember that Phil's Phoolers request
our patience since Eddie did not date all of his show tapes in order, so
occasionally answers will be delayed until a future show as we work our
way through the 25 years of Browsers broadcasts. Join the Browsers
trivia challenge to answer questions like "Name the male
actor/singer/dancer who played a 1920's band leader and sang "I'll Get
By" in the 1948 movie "You Were Meant for Me." Or name some songs with
geographical names in the title. So, here are Eddie & the Browsers.
Thanks to Jerry Haendiges for adapting all of "Eddie Hubbard and the
Browsers" original studio tapes for highest quality broadcast.
