I have been using audio hyjack since it first came out. It is from Rogue
Amoeba that also has an audio editor called Fusion. They have just released
[removed] in Audio Hijack which has a silent monitoring option.

Another good program for capturing audio is Audacity, which is free, and is
available for Windows, Mac, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems.
