Just as an FYI ...

I'm aware of the cautions against using alcohol based cleaners on
shellac-based records.

My info on lacquers (ie, use an ammonia based solution, not alcohol) came
from an archivist who was in charge of preservation work on the University
of North Carolina's Southern Folklife Collection's recordings a few years
ago.  I know I'm not mistaken - he lectured me for a half hour and nearly
ripped me a new orifice after I'd mentioned cleaning an acetate with an
alcohol based record cleaner.

I haven't used alcohol based material on lacquers since then.

Sigh.  Perhaps I should have been going to my local liquor store to buy
Everclear afterall.
