I have a copy of a Paul Harvey show from February 1960. Is this the oldest
surviving show out there? Does anyone know when he stopped broadcasting at
night? There are a few airchecks from 1964 where he signs off Good Night,
instead of Good Day. I'm guessing it was some time before he started the Rest
of The Story broadcasts.
Lastly, was he always on at least twice a day?
Sincerely,
Michael Simons

Dear Folks-
I have an acquaintance who is researching the work of Creighton (better
known as "Lon, Jr.") Chaney.
I'd appreciate any info, on-list or off-, about:
- his shows in circulation (like the Abbott & Costello);
- ones considered lost (like the Inner Sanctum)
- rumored ones (like an OF MICE AND MEN)
Thanks,
-Craig

Subject: Crosby Philco Phlubs
The standard practice for Crosby's shows was that they recorded both the
morning rehearsal and the shows done before the live audience. If a mistake
was made they could always fall back on the rehearsal recording. But if
something got a big laugh and it was entertaining they'd let it in.
They also were a lot looser with time restraints. The theory was that they
could keep the good stuff and edit out anything that went flat.
Radio Spirits released a 45-minute version of a Philco with Bob Hope and
Dorothy Lamour. With that trio even the stuff they cut out was good!
Remember, what was so historic about the Philco series isn't that it was
prerecorded. Its that it was edited.

Can anyone help David?
Hi,
I'm researching the life and career of Warner Bros contract player James
Stephenson (1889-1941). Stephenson appeared in a KFWB radio adaptation of "I
Found
Stella Parrish" broadcast on March 23 1938. Also on the programme was Gale
Page, Marie Wilson and Bryan Foy. Stephenson was also invited, but did not
appear, to a December 8 1937 broadcast of "Your Hollywood Parade" I'm trying
to
find full cast and crew listings for these programmes. Please could you advise
which of the many magazine publications from the era would provide this
information?
Any help would be most appreciated.
Many thanks,
David Redfern <redfern2002@[removed];

Anyone remember the magazine or have any copies? I have the Autumm 1994
issue which has an excellent article on "Things That go Bump On The Air" ;
part three of a six part series on old time radio horror by Shawn Danowski.
