Subject: Anthony Tollin and Chuck McCann at George
Eastman house in Rochester
Just a note to thanks Anthony Tollin, Chuck McCann and the rest of
the cast for a wonderful show presented at the George Eastman House in
Rochester NY. Very entertaining and up close and personal. Mr McCann
seems like a very likable person (same as his on air personality)
Corrine Orr has a wonderful voice for radio, Michael Gwynne sounds just
like Orson Welles and Will Hutchins is a hoot.!.
It was neat to hear of Rochester's link to OTR, The Shadow
originating on WHAM in Rochester in 1932 but problems caused it to be
broadcast elsewhere. Anthony correct me if I don't have that exactly right
The Jack Benny "50 cents to a bum " recreation was great. It was
fun to hear Rochester in Rochester
If it comes to your town, don't miss it.

Subject: JACK ARMSTRONG
I am finishing an article listing all of the existing episodes of JACK
ARMSTRONG, THE ALL AMERICAN BOY. It appears there are a few recordings that
are "supposedly" in circulation. I suspect half of them are pre-existing
episodes with different (and incorrect) airdates and I need to listen to them
to verify. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the following episodes?
April 18, 1939 (for example, I suspect it's really April 28, 1939 which was
the final
show of the season, concluding the plot involving the Grand Lama of
Tibet.)
April 28, 1939
September 17, 1940
August 20, 1943
February 2, 1947
February 6, 1947
July 8, 1947
July 28, 1947
August 22, 1947
March 4, 1948
I will be sure to thank participants in the article when it is completed.
Many thanks in advance,
Martin

Subject: Extra! Extra! Hear all about it!
Folks;
A week or three ago, I talked to someone about news broadcasts; this made
me actually dig around in the musty caverns at Chez Charlie to see what news
broadcasts I could find. After rummaging around on everything including
ancient HFS CDs (this will only make sense to old Macintosh folks), I
gathered together what I could [removed] over a hundred files, mostly
CBS' World News Today shows with many if not most uploaded to USENET many
many moons ago by the revered Paradygm (if you were there, you know; if you
weren't, I can't explain).
After listening to the Bob Edwards Show this morning and his interview
with Steve Wick, author of "The Long Night: William L. Shirer and the Rise
and Fall of the Third Reich," I again thought about these news broadcasts,
and that they should be distributed. But also that the hundred or so I've
been able to find thus far should only be the tip of the collector's iceberg.
So before I make the distribution set available to all and sundry, how
many more can be added?
In the next day or three I will post a list of the files that I have. If
you have any to add, contact me and we'll find a simple way for you to get
them to me. I'll also post an episode or two to the podcast this week, just
to get some of these shows to your ears. And to start the looking for
additional shows, does anyone know if the first CBS news "round-up" which
aired on 3/13/1938 with Robert Trout, Edward R. Murrow, and William L. Shirer
is in circulation?
Charlie
