I have copies of the Digest back to June 15, 2004.
They're not in any special format; I just move them into a dedicated folder in my E-Mail when they arrive.

Hi Everybody,
Such good news that a group has archives many of the emails. I hope we can
make a complete set and have them on-line some where. Take care,
Walden

From Those Were The Days --
12/13
1942 The characters of Allen's Alley were presented for the first time
on The Fred Allen Show. This particular segment of the show became very
popular and was used by Allen until 1949. Remember the stops along the
way in Allen's Alley? They were at the Brooklyn tenement of Mrs.
Nussbaum, the farmhouse of Titus Moody, the shack of Ajax Cassidy and
the antebellum mansion of Senator Beauregard Claghorn.
12/14
1953 Fred Allen returned from semi-retirement to narrate Prokofiev's
classic, Peter and the Wolf, on the Bell Telephone Hour on NBC.
12/16
1949 After a decade on radio, Captain Midnight was heard for the final
time.
12/17
1936 Ventriloquist Edgar Bergen kidded around with his pal, Charlie
McCarthy (who was a bit wooden, we [removed]), for the first time on
radio. The two debuted on The Rudy Vallee Show on NBC. Soon, Bergen
became one of radio's hottest properties, and was called Vallee's
greatest talent discovery.
12/19
1932 the British Broadcasting Corporation began transmitting overseas
with its Empire Service to Australia.

Subject: Charlie
I was saddened to read of the sudden death of Charlie and miss him.
A. Joseph Ross mentioned one time Charlie got on him for not posting
in ASCII text.
In the days of Yahoo groups I mistakenly sent my weekly column to
that group instead of the digest. Boy, did I hear about that! :)
And it never happened again.
I'm been a member of this group since the early days of the mid 1990s
and wonder if with all the changes on the web, if it will continue. I
remember the days when there would be several long digests every day and
now its down to a trickle and sometimes not even that.
I well remember the format wars. Strict reel-to-reel folks at war
with cassette people. No sooner had the dust settled on that then the
cassette vs. .mp3 war started. But all during those days everyone was
courteous to those on the other side.
Someone mentioned Harry Bartell and Hal Stone.
At one time Lois Culver had a weekly OTR chat room and we had Harry
stop by and visit and great conversations with him.
And Hal was a lot of fun.
I only wish I had the foresight to record those.
Over time that eventually died out as well as people stopped
attending, others passed on.
I miss those days.
RIP Charlie and thanks for all you did.
Joe

Subject: Archiving The Digest
Besides a searchable archive, if someone is able to produce one, an archive like what Jim Widner created for 2001 and 2002 could be stored on the
Internet Archive. Each year and/or decade can be made available as a downloadable zip folder.
Is it still possible to retrieve old volumes from the archive?
Jim
