05-11-1911 - Doodles Weaver - Los Angeles, CA - d. 1-13-1983
comedian: Professor Feedlebaum "Spike Jones Show"

Based on Doodles' personal diary, which I've seen, I believe his
birthdate is actually 5/11/13. The character he played on Spike's
show was Prof. Feetlebaum, although he sometimes spelled it
Fietlebaum.

Subject: Bing Crosby flub

A couple of years ago while in my car I heard an installment of Bing
Crosby's "Kraft Music Hall" that was hilarious because he flubbed a
song, complained about the key, (inquiring who pitched it so high?)
and made a big joke of "blowing it." The audience was in the aisles
laughing so hard. I even wrote into the OTR Digest at the time and
someone was kind enough to send me an mp3 of it. Regrettably, I have
misplaced the file and now can't remember the date of the original
broadcast. I seem to recall there was somebody important Bing's show
that night, probably a fellow singer, and they were both going to
sing this song when it all went awry.

No doubt this was an incident that is well known to those of Bing's
fans who are far more knowledgeable than I. If somebody could refresh
my memory about this, I'd appreciate it!

Subject: This Day in Mis-Quotes

From Those Were The Days
5/6
1937 A student of history, a broadcaster or anyone interested in news
coverage, will remember this day and the words of NBC's Herbert
Morrison. "Oh, the humanities!"

I guess he didn't like his college course load!

I believe the correct quote would be "Oh, the humanity" (singular).
