Subject: Edward Blake, [removed]

Talking Book narrator and radio/commercial voice-over artist Edward Blake died
on Monday (17th), age 73 after an extended bout with cancer. His radio credits
include a long-term stint as announcer during the 1980s and 1990s for both the
television and radio versions of "Christopher Close-Up," a Catholic-themed
public-affairs interview show hosted by Father John Katoir (pronounced kah-
TAWR). Winner of "The Alexander Scourby Award for Excellence in the Narration
of
Talking Books," Mr. Blake narrated Talking Books for the Blind for over 25
years
at American Foundation for the Blind in New York. I had the pleasure of having
worked with Ed for about 12 years before his retirement early this century. He
was a tremendous fan of Bob and Ray, particularly their radio soap opera
send-ups such as "Mary Backstage, Noble Wife," and "One Feller's Family."
Needless to say, Ed will be sadly missed.

Subject: Green Hornet

I have a vague recollection of having listened to Green Hornet as a kid.
When I listened to it as an grownup I found it too violent and not
enjoyable.

I find the same thing with "The Saint" but have listened more to that
because of the wonderful sounds of Vincent Price's voice. "The Saint" seems
to
always have bodies laying around and it doesn't seem to bother him much.
It is the problem to solve that interests him not the person. But then how
tastes do change on how we view entertainment.

Not inclined to go to the "Green Hornet" movie. With Netflix streaming
and a 46" TV screen connected to a computer I have better movie choices.
