Odd choice for a voice someone I like and think he had a great [removed]
but maybe someone can clue
Me in as to who I am talking about. He was usually heard on the Lone

Program, played the bad guy, had a husky/gravely type voice.
Anybody know who I might be talking about?

are being recalled. Because so many were superlative I humbly submit the
following dozen for your consideration.

Subject: Fred Foy, [removed]
~ December 22, 2010 ~
Fred Foy died this morning at his home in Woburn, MA, at the age of 89.
Best known for his narration of The Lone Ranger, radio historian Jim Harmon
described Foy as "the announcer, perhaps the greatest announcer-narrator in
the history of radio drama." His stentorian delivery of the program's
lead-in thrilled his audience for years and helped the program achieve even
greater popularity and status. Most radio historians agree that Foy's Lone
Ranger introduction is the most recognized opening in American radio:
Hi-Yo, Silver! A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a
hearty "Hi-Yo Silver"... The Lone Ranger! With his faithful Indian
companion, Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains led
the fight for law and order in the early Western United States. Nowhere in
the pages of history can one find a greater champion of justice. Return with
us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. From out of the past come the
thundering hoof-beats of the great horse Silver. The Lone Ranger rides
again!
Fred Foy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances B. Foy; three children
including Nancy Foy, VP Feature Casting, 20th Century Fox; Wendy Foy
Griffis; and Fritz Foy, SRVP Digital Publishing, Macmillan; sons-in-law
actor Joe d'Angerio; Dan Griffis; daughter-in-law Laurie Hriszko Foy; and
three grandchildren, Justin Cutietta, Hannah d'Angerio, and Nathaniel Foy.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
the family asks that donations be made to the USO in honor of Mr. Foy's
military service in WW II.

Hello one and all!
I hope this holiday sees you in the company of those you love. I've had the

Subject: Marvin Miller and the [removed]
Another big project for Marvin Miller was a recording of the Holy Bible.
The entire New Testament and part of the Old Testament. As Librarian at the
SD School for the Blind, I came across a multi-volume set of 7" discs with
big center holes, recorded at 16 rpm. Fortunately there was an adapter for
the center hole (not the standard 45 rpm hole), so I was able to transfer
those discs to reels. Recordings were done in 1953 by Audio Books, Inc. of
St. Joseph, MO.
Someone on
this list wanted the New Testament recordings, so I copied them to reels.
Someday I will copy the Old Testament done by Miller, too. I will probably
copy the set to cassette, someday. If anyone is interested in these
recordings, please drop me a note.
Miller was even able to make the genealogy part of Matthew (Chapter 1)
interesting!
