Subject: IRS shows

The two that come immediately to mind for me are:

Ethel and Albert 1950-02-27 (07) 1947 Tax Audit (1st half)
X Minus One 56-04-03 (045) How-To

Although the X Minus One is iffy as it may be about personal property tax.
Anyway it involves a tax collector. A search of my episodes for the terms
tax, IRS and income shows these episodes:

Hi Folks.
I've just been looking through the BBC Press Office site ( which gives advance
copies of the BBC radio schedules ) and I see on Saturday 26th March 2000-2100
UK time BBC Radio 4 visits the British Library's Sound Conservation Centre in
a programme called 'Archive on 4 - Walls of Sound'. Full details on the BBC
Press Office site in the Programme Info section, then click on Network Radio.
It should be available outside the UK to download.

Cheers ! Graeme ( ORCA / UK )

Subject: OTR and income tax

03-14-11

In V2011 #42, Jim Beck asks for OTR shows that dealt with the
income tax. There's one that I have a copy of that is on-topic. That's
an Amos 'n' Andy episode of March 2, 1945. Andy's trying to impress a
new girlfriend by passing himself off as a rich man ... until he
discovers that she works for the IRS.
I have another one that's a Jack Benny episode where Jack's in a
steam cabinet being operated by Rochester ... and cooking potatoes at the
same time. It's date is a March 16th, and the income tax returns had to
be in yesterday, and two IRS agents come to visit Jack. I don't know the
year.
Regarding that 03-08-36 Benny episode ... my copy of it has
skipping problems, too.

Regards,

Jim

Jim Burns' post about collectibles dealer Paul Rubin reminded me that
I hadn't seen anything on here about Eddie Brandt, who died Feb.
20--best known for his video and collectibles shop, Eddie Brandt's
Saturday Matinee in North Hollywood, Calif.

The OTR connection is that Eddie was a longtime staff writer for
Spike Jones, and worked on his 1947-1949 radio show (which he
discussed at a panel I put together for a 1991 SPERDVAC convention).
He also wrote parodies for Joan Davis' radio show.
