Hi Gang!

Came across this video on you tube the other day and thought it might be
of interest to you folks.

It is a short video about OTR sound effects. It starts with youngster
listening to a Western on his bedroom radio. The video then shows how
the youngster is imagining what is happening on the radio. The video
then shows what is happening in the studio and all the sound effects
that are employed by the sound men and even some of the actors.

Here is the link: [removed]

Enjoy!

Subject: 1932 Summer Olympics on radio?

Hi. Does anybody know if NBC or CBS did any live broadcasts of any of the
events at the 1932 Summer Olympic Games or even the opening day ceremony?
The Summer Olympics took place in Los Angeles that year between July 30 and
August 14. All I can find so far is that some Los Angeles radio stations
reported on results of each day's events, but usually in the early or late
evenings. I found a couple of New York City radio stations that did the
same thing, with reports on the results of each day's events, usually
between 6 pm and midnight. I know that because of the Depression, fewer
countries took part than did in the 1928 games. I wonder if interest in the
Olympics was not very high at the time to interest the networks in doing any
live broadcasting.
