Thought I'd add some info to Bob Burchett's post about the location of the 2010 & 2011 Cincinnati Convention.
This is the Internet site of the Crowne Plaza (Blue Ash) hotel, in case you want to get more info about it:

Disclaimer:
I have no connection with the hotel. I just like to check out hotels where I might be staying, and I thought that you folks might this info useful if you're planning to go to the Cincinnati Convention next year. [Example: Their in-room amenities include coffee makers - that's a + for me! :-) ]

Subject: Little Orphan Orphan Annie on Broadway Follow-up
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: from multipart/alternative
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: Alternative section used was text/plain

In Digest # 90 Larry Moore asked, Does anyone know why Harold Gray or even
the comic strip was never
credited on the promos or programfor the musical "Annie"?
"Annie" began her pre-Broadway run in late 1976 - eight years after the the
death of comic strip creator Harold
Gray. The musical "Annie" began her Tony Award -winning run of 2,377
performances on Broadway , April 21, 1977.
>From what I remember at that time and have since researched, it appears that
the Tribune Company made no effort to distance
their already legendary comic strip property from Annie's new stage
presence. In fact , most evidence indicates just the opposite.
>From a marketing standpoint,newspapers ads , TV commercials, other
promotional materials and the cast album prominently featured the Little
Orphan Annie comic strip image along with the Tribune Syndicate copyright.
Reflecting Annie's dazzling success in her Broadway incarnation, there were
even Little Orphan Annie Newspaper ads reminding readers, It's a comic strip
too."
Just as the Ovaltine-sponsored radio program's popularity had years before,
"Annie" the musical led to at least a brief renewal of interest in the
long-running comic strip version. It appears that the Tribune Company took
advantage of this opportunity by refashioning their iconic waif as a more
thoroughly modern Annie. of Course, Orphan Annie was no stranger to
reinvention. And her appearances in various mediums usually differed somewhat
from her previous incarnations. This is never more clear when one contrasts
the Harold Gray-drawn Annie to the singing Annie of Broadway. Gray's
brilliant comic strip, conveyed a politically Conservative tone, and was
dark, novel-like in his story-telling approach. His lead male character and
Orphan Annie's sometimes distant protector , Daddy Warbucks made no secret
of his intense dislike of FDR and the New Deal. The 1977 Broadway spin gave
us a colorful , sunny Annie & a more warmer Daddy Warbucks. FDR , now a
dear friend of Warbucks, actually plays a heroic role in the musical's plot.
As for Why Gray's name was not highlighted on the posters , programs and the
like , I have no solid answer yet. By that point, I believe his estate no
longer had a financial interest in the ongoing comic strip. because of that
along with the obvious difference in tone and style of the two Annies , the
Tribune Company & the musical's Production team, likely wanting to provide
"Annie" with a fresh slate, chose not to splash Gray's name all over Broadway.
Arf!

Baughan

Numerous sources give the name of Bob and Ray's Western character as
Tex Blaisdell.

Why does he have the same name as the Houston-born artist Tex
Blaisdell (1920-1999) who drew ''Little Orphan Annie'' from 1968 to
1973?
