Subject: Empire Builders dates
Hi Gang,
I was aware of the 11-10-30 date and of course, I show the 12-1-30 date
in my Log. But the 11-30-30 date has to be bogus as the program was
always aired on Monday, not Sunday.
When I first received these recordings some 30 years ago, the
"Armistice Day Reunion" program had a date of 11-10-30 printed on it.
That date, however, was crossed off and a date of 12-1-30 handwritten in
it's place. I inquired from the source of the recordings about this
discrepancy. I was told the program had been scheduled to Air on 11-10,
but due to technical problems, it never went out. The producers thought
so much of the story, they decided to go ahead and air it in place of
the 12-1 scheduled program.
Whether any of this is true or not, I have no idea. None of the
research I've done shed's any light on the subject. But based on what
meager facts I do have, I plan to leave it's date as 12-1-30 until such
time as someone can verify the correct date one way or another.
I hope this doesn't confuse the matter even more :-)

Subject: Thak you, Michael
My thanks to Michael Biel for his indepth information on the rotation and
surface speed of recorded discs.
Though I have transferred literally thousands of radio shows directly off
network ETs and some 78s, I am not an engineer. So my understqanding of the
various technical aspects of recording are based on experience, information
from other sources more in the "know" than I, and finally, what I have
deduced from trial and error.
Thus, I applaud Michael for coming forth and giving more accurate information
than I could have done.
Thank you, Michael!
