Subject: Hindenburg Disaster

The question raised about scripting is an interesting one. In Wikipedia
it states that the narration of the disaster was not broadcast until the
next day! Is this true? If so there would have been time for manipulation.

Speaking about Wikipedia, which has been discussed here, today's (May 8,
2009) Dilbert might prove interesting particularly because of my doubt about
the accuracy of its article on the Hindenberg.

Subject: Old Time Radio In the News

A whole bunch of stuff out there on the web today.

Another salute to the retiring Chuck Schaden (sure the only time in his life he was ever described thusly):

[removed];src=2

This is off-topic but funny - a writer who apparently thinks Jack Benny and Gracie Allen were married messing up an OTR reference as a result:

[removed]~y2009m5d6-Cat-adoption-is-a-purrfect-way-to-be-kind-to-animals

The San Francisco Chronicle (what's left of it) covers the fate of a historic radio theater (what's left of it):

[removed]

One of many obituaries for Wizard of Oz Actor Mickey Carroll, which notes his subsequent appearances on radio after the film.

[removed]

Also off-topic but cool, comic book writing legend Neil Gaiman ("Sandman") falls asleep by listening to Jack Benny shows on his iPod.

Subject: Dates for Our Miss. Brooks Episodes

I know there many Brooks that are completely unknown, but maybe someone
may know the date of 3 of my episodes. I have had then for about years
It's driving to drink and I want to stop drinking.

 1. Possibly called "Frosty Festival" a winter outing for the High
School started yeas ago by Yoder Kretch. Connie & Mrs Davis prepared
food in the high school Kitchen packed it in a basket covered with a
table cloth. Walter prepared dirty basket ball uniforms and put then
in a basket covered with a table cloth. The same laundry cleaned
uniforms and [removed] picked up the dirty stuff up in the kitchen. Mrs
Davis or Connie put the basket in the car - the dirty uniforms. Need a
date.

2. Connie tries to buiild up Boyton's ego up by growing a mustache. I
worked and was taking other teachers. Connie hopes that is not the
recipient of the Homw Economics class clothing award. the award is a
dress the class made. Last year they gave her the award and dress that
was to tight and ugly. Need date.

3. Mr Jock Bouvey (? spelling) of the French School system is in town
looking for teachers to teach in France at double their present pay.
Connie, Boyton and Mr Conklin try to get an interview. Need date.

All of the above are AFRS

Hope some one can help

Subject: FDR Fireside Chats.

There seems to be some confusion as to how many FDR fireside chats there
really were. We know that the impression people have is that he did more
that were actually done. This has come up because of Obama's propensity to
use the media frequently to "talk" to the masses.

I have heard the number 26, 28 and now Doris Kearns Goodwin, the charming
presidential expert, said 35 on the Jon Stewart's "Daily Show".

I hate to think that Doris might be wrong but that seems to be the case.
