My wife was a big fan of those books as a girl, and has enjoyed rediscovering
them as she reads them aloud to our children. Does anybody know specifically
which episodes of what series adapted the Little House books?
Cheers,

Subject: Seeking recommendations for best episodes of
"The Lone Ranger" and "Gunsmoke"

Hi folks.
Our radio drama troupe is looking for a good western to perform for an
upcoming live fundraiser and are considering either "The Lone Ranger" or
"Gunsmoke". Not being as familiar with these shows as I'd like, I thought I'd
come to the experts for suggestions.
Episodes that feature all the main characters, have a good bit of action -
horse chases, gunfights, etc. - a good villain or strong crisis situation, as
well as a good story would be best. In the case of "The Lone Ranger", a story
in which Tonto is written well and respectfully would be desired.
Whatever input you guys can give would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Subject: "The Shadow" vs "Sherlock Holmes"
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: from multipart/alternative
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: Alternative section used was text/plain
A friend told me recently that he thought there was a similarity
between the OTR program
"The Shadow" and "Sherlock Holmes". He said that both had a group of people
who helped
them out with cases. "The Shadow" had a group of people he'd helped who
assisted him with
information which he used in cases. It was sort of a payback, as I understand
it, for his having
saved them before.
Holmes, on the other hand employed a group of street urchins he called
the "Baker Street
Irregulars" who acted as his eyes and ears on the street and delivered updates
about what was
happening, or was due to happen, regarding suspects in the cases he was
working on.
I explained that there WAS a difference. The main one being that once
"The Shadow" got
assistance from the people he helped, their debt to him was paid. Sherlock
Holmes, however,
would continue using "the Baker Street Irregulars" and would pay them (in one
way or another)
on a continuing basis. I don't believe that the Shadow ever paid his
assistants anything.
I say he is wrong, but will admit that both crime solvers had their
own group of assistants.
Who's right?
As always,
Kenneth Clarke

X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: Alternative section used was text/plain
A friend of mine has supplied me with a number of AFRTS discs. These
are 12" not 16".
The programs are Golden Days of Radio, Grand Ole Opry, Vincent Price
Show, Gershwin TV special, CBS Mystery Theater, You Are There,
Doctor's House Call, Suspense, Challenge Biographies with scripted intros.
I have not had a chance to look at all the labels, but I did notice
that on one of the Suspense discs, There are 1980 rubber stamps dates
and the disc number is RU 19-0 1056.
I didn't realize that AFR was putting out discs of radio shows in the 1980's.
Can anyone comment on anything about these type of discs. Thanks.
Fred
