9/10
1935 "I'm Popeye the sailor [removed]" toot! toot! Popeye was heard for
the first time on NBC. The show was based on the Elzie Crisler Segar
comic strip,
IDW comics has been putting out a new series of Popeye comic strips,
with some very well written and drawn Popeye stories that are very true
to the original. They're also putting out classic reprints of old
Popeye comic books drawn by Bud Sagandorf. There's no indication of
when those were drawn.
It should also be noted that Saturday, 9/8, was the 46th anniversary of
the network premiere of Star Trek. A few of us lucky ones got to see
previews the previous weekend at the World Science Fiction Convention,
where Gene Roddenberry was on hand and accessible to fans. Probably
more accessible than he ever was able to be since.
