Subject: Erik Bauersfeld

Kermyt Anderson inquired about Erik Bauersfeld and asks if anyone was
aware of his role as an old-time radio actor.

I believe Mr. Bauersfeld performed in the "Black Mass" and also was
credited as for his work in the show's production as well. It's
certainly possible there were other shows that he worked on. If there
were, perhaps others may be able to expand on my list.

Subject: Death and the Conjure Man - A Lost Shadow
 Adventure
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: from multipart/alternative
X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: Alternative section used was text/html

The last recording of The Shadow that is known to exist is "The Vengeance of
Angela Nolen" broadcast July 27, 1954. It wasn't a very good episode. Three
weeks later "Death and the Conjure Man" was aired. And this was more like The
Shadow that we remember!

No recordings of "Death and the Conjure Man" are known to have survived, so
you can't hear it. But you can still read about it. Check out my blog entry
for this week at:

Yes, I'm happy to say that The Shadow still held the same thills in his last
year on the air that he did in the 1940s.

Erik was a brilliant radio dramatist, going way back, and is probably
best known for his work at Bay Area Radio Drama (BARD). A year ago, we
gave him the Norman Corwin Award for Excellence in Audio Theatre. He was
delighted, and though he couldn't come to the presentation at the
HearNOW! Festival in Kansas City, Randy Thom kindly invited him up to
Skywalker Ranch to make a charming video which we saw.
