Subject: Radio Once More on KMOX St. Louis
Hi All,
A big thank you to Radio Once More's Terry Salomonson for promoting Radio
Once More on KMOX St. Louis' "Johnny Rabbitt Show" this evening during his
appearance on the show from 11-11:30(ET) Tuesday night. Terry was on to
promote the Green Hornet book he co-authored with another Radio Once More
on-air personality Martin Grams.
Terry and Mr. Rabbitt were kind enough to promote Radio Once More several
times on the well known 50,000 watt clear channel station whose nighttime
signal is heard throughout most of the Continental United States.
So congratulations on a terrific appearance Terry, and thanks for
remembering your on-air family at Radio Once More!

Subject: Eddie Carroll
At the 2007 REPs convention I was asked to play Fred Allen opposite Eddie in
a recreation of the Fred Allen Show. Allen is about the only impression I do.
I heard of Eddie and his brilliant work as Jack Benny from many folks so
naturally I was nervous. How could I to capture the Benny/Allen magic who
liveed and breathed Benny. Greg Oppenheimer (SP) directed the piece and I''d
met him before but I didn't even see Eddie until minutes before the rehearsal
started. I can't remember if we were introduced to one another be for we
began or not. Now I love Fred Allen, he is my favorite OTR comedian and I do
my best to try and get his voice and timing down as well as I can so when we
commenced I did my best to forget who was waiting to come on and focus on the
people recreating the famous Allen cast. Everything we cooking along and the
Eddie/Jack made his entrance. This was the first time I'd heard Eddie's Benny
and it was fabulous. We clicked. All at once, out
of nowhere I threw in an Allen ad lib (I've been doing voice work for many
years and I've learned to let the voice have its way) and Eddie came right
back. It was, for me magic. We kept this up during the entire rehearsal and
if I stumbled Eddie'd pounced just like Jack. He was Jack Benny. I had dinner
with im that night and as stated he was completely gracious and kind and
very complimentary about my Fred Allen. Until that dinner I had no idea he
was the voice of Jiminy Cricket. He wasn't one to boast. I only wish we could
have done it again. Rest in Peace Eddie, the Lord welcomes you home.

Subject: People are funny movie
Last evening checking out
[removed] I found they had the film
"People are funny", 1946, which is a fictionalized story behind the
radio show starring Ray Bolger, Rudy Valle, Ozzie Nelson and co-starring
Art Linkletter as himself.
Its a funny film with nice behind the scenes look at radio show
ideas, sponsors, and so forth.
The featured movie lasts a few days and then goes back into the
library so if its not on the front page its in the library.

that website. Don't miss this unique opportunity to share this milestone with
Radio's Poet Laureate, Norman Corwin!
*************************************************************
On Sunday the celebration continues in Santa Monica at the Aero Theatre:
Emmy, Peabody and Golden Globe winner Norman Corwin began
as a journalist and writer-director of acclaimed radio dramas before moving
on to master virtually every kind of writing: Essays, screenplays,
television, and theater were just a few of the mediums he conquered. He was
nominated for an Academy Award for LUST FOR LIFE.
At 5:00 pm the Aero Theatre will screen LUST FOR LIFE,
1956, MGM, 122 min. Director Vincente Minnelli, screenwriter Norman Corwin,
and star Kirk Douglas teamed up for this story of the life and work of
Vincent Van Gogh.
Shown also will be Corinne Marrinan and Eric Simonson's Oscar-winning short
"A Note of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin" (40 min).
This exploration of the lasting impact of radio broadcasting legend Norman
Corwin's work focuses on his landmark 1945 piece, "On a Note of
Triumph," which aired on the evening of VE Day.
There will be a book signing of Norman Corwin's One World Flight: The Lost
Journal of Radio's Greatest Writer at Every Picture Tells a Story across the
street at 4:00 PM. Discussion prior to the film with Norman Corwin.
