Hi Folks
The Daily Telegraph ( London ) carried a piece today about the BBC
Archives. Thought it might interest some of you :

Director-General Mark Thompson at the Radio Festival in Salford announced that
an Online Archive of BBC radio programmes dating back to the 1940s is to be
set up within the next year. Known as Audiopedia, it will contain thousands of
hours of special programmes from within the Corporation's [removed] .... '

I suppose one of the questions still to be answered is whither this will be
available outside the UK though ?

Cheers ! Graeme ( ORCA / UK )

Subject: The Sound Effects Man

Hello again --
I may have missed an earlier mention of this, but wanted everyone to know
that Tom Keith, the guy who made all the sound effects on Prairie Home
Companion with his mouth and voice for several years, died suddenly of a
heart attack last Sunday in Woodbury, Minnesota. He was 64 years old.
"Prairie Home Companion" may not be a series from radio's golden age, but
Garrison Keillor has done his best to bring back the flavor of the old
"National Barn Dance" and "Grand Ole Opry" shows in his own, inimitable
fashion. Keith's work survives in archived recordings of the PHC show, as
well as on a couple of CDs that he made with Garrison. He can also be seen
doing his shtick in Robert Altman's last movie, "Prairie Home Companion."

Subject: Your Hit Parade mis-dated

Does anyone have a copy of the June 24, 1947 broadcast of YOUR HIT PARADE?

There appears to be an episode circulating with that air date but there was
never a YOUR HIT PARADE broadcast on that date. I finally finished the
listing of all the episodes that aired, including songs and singers, and I
would like to know who sung which songs so we can have an accurate date for
what appears to be inaccurate.

If you have a copy, can you send it to me off list?
Many thanks in advance,
Martin
