Subject: Monitor

1955 "This is Monitor, a weekend program service of NBC Radio," was
heard for the first time. ... listeners who were "on the Monitor beacon"
were entertained for six
hours or more each Saturday and Sunday night for nearly two decades.

Monitor wasn't just evenings, in its heyday it was on for most of
Saturday and Sunday during the day. At some point in the early sixties,
it was extended to weekday evenings for awhile as well. Many other
programs were incorporated into Monitor. For example, Groucho Marx's
"You Bet Your Life" moved from Wednesday evenings to Saturday
afternoons, where it became a feature of Monitor. Later, when Monitor
was on weekday evenings, YBYL moved to Monday evenings for its last
season on radio.
